what is a dual sport motorcycle ride?
Organized dual sport motorcycle rides began in California in the mid 1980’s. The basic idea is a non-competitive group ride involving both paved roads and unpaved trails. This requires a street legal motorcycle that is capable of travel on dirt roads and trails.
Tours usually entail a lot of scenery, a little local history, and hopefully a sampling of local fare. Exploring national and state forests and other back-road areas provides an opportunity to view things that most people will never get to see. Event organizers typically provide participants with a roll chart in order to self navigate the planned course.
